Since May 15 2021, all digital payments in France need to comply to a new Payment Services Directive (PSD2) that requires a strong authentication process. This new regulation will make online transactions more secure than ever, ensuring card payments are always safely conducted by the cardholder at checkout.
What does this mean for you?
When paying for a parking session after May 15, you may be prompted by your bank to verify your identity. This process is done by providing at least two of the following criteria:
- Knowledge that only the user knows, e.g., password, secret code
- An item that only the user possesses, e.g., credit card and CVC code, smartphone
- A biometric characteristic of the user, e.g., fingerprint or facial recognition
Please note that any change to your existing payment details in the app or addition of a new credit card will also trigger the same authentication request.
How does it work with PARK NOW?
Once you confirm your parking session, you will receive a request for authentication from your bank app or SMS. Then simply authenticate yourself with the requested information and your transaction will be verified and complete.
